Freedom Festival

“The partnership we have with Nice Twice Club is incredibly important to Freedom Festival Arts Trust”

Nice Twice Club has worked with Freedom Festival since 2022, they were our very first festival to join the club. We started working with Freedom Festival alongside our partners, Gig Buddies, before we were an established campaign.

“Nice Twice Club was instrumental in making the accessibility offering at Freedom Festival 2023 so expectational. Since 2022, they have been in constant communication with us about the ways in which we could improve our accessibility offering and were ready to inform, assist and educate every step of the way. During the freedom festival 2023, Nice Twice Club was on site creating safe spaces and providing activities for those audience members with accessibility needs. I cannot thank the Nice Twice Club enough for the hard work they do, and continue to do, across Hull.”

In 2023, we asked festival audiences to complete our “Is it nice?” forms. This feedback was invaluable in shaping the 2024 festival access offer. Nice Twice Club also delivered access and inclusion training to Hey Volunteers who would be volunteering at Freedom Festival.

Nice Twice Club Community member, Ash had this to say ‘I have volunteered at the Nice Twice Club stall at Freedom Festival 2 years in a row. I enjoyed interacting with the public, the fact that we were outdoors meant that more people felt welcomed to come and have a look. We were loud with our music, the colours were eye catching and the weather was good. I had a look around Freedom Festival, I went into Zebedees Yard and had a free cuppa Tea in the Hull Minster. I’m really looking forward to the next Freedom Festival, getting involved, helping Nice Twice grow and working together with other organisations in the city of Hull.’

Freedom Festival’s Engagement Producer, Katie said, “The partnership we have with Nice Twice Club is incredibly important to Freedom Festival Arts Trust. Nice Twice Club offer experienced support that is rooted in people’s lived experience. This gives us invaluable guidance when planning our festival to ensure that it is as accessible as possible for our audiences. They are also part of festival weekend being on site to offer friendly and knowledgeable access support. We are very grateful to them and look forward to working together again at future festivals.”

We can’t wait to work continue our work with Freedom Festival this year and for many years to come!
