Hull Truck Theatre
Nice Twice Club worked with Hull Truck back in 2023, two years later we’ve chatted with Danielle
(Box Office Sales Manager & Access Champion).
“At Hull Truck Theatre we’re passionate about nurturing creativity, offering people a safe space to express themselves and facilitating shared experiences.
Attending the theatre can enrich the lives of participants and audiences alike, and can bring together like-minded individuals and those who can often feel isolated or excluded. Its’ really important that we remove barriers to entry and use our spaces and resources to connect with the local community.”
In 2023, Nice Twice Club provided Hull Truck with a consultation report on their inclusion and access following a tour of the theatre. There were 10 community members with different lived experience on the tour who all shared feedback. We also shared feedback on their social media and website.
Danielle said, “Nice Twice Club encourage open and honest conversations, in a supportive environment, and their feedback so far has been invaluable.
Working with local organisations, like Nice Twice Club, allows us the opportunity to learn from people with lived experience - which is crucial when we are evaluating existing policies and introducing new practices which directly impact audiences with access needs.
Nice Twice Club offers continuous support to Hull Truck, we recently are sharing feedback on their easy read information.
Community member, Jess reflected on the tour at Hull Truck. “After the tour with Nice Twice Club, I went to see “Little Shop of Horrors”, it was really funny, I liked the plants. Getting to Hull Truck is easy, it’s not far from the station. I’d already seen everything at the tour before going to see a show so I knew what to expect. I don’t think I would have gone to see a show without going with Nice Twice Club. If someone hasn’t been to Hull Truck before, I would recommend they go to a similar tour to know more about what to expect.”
Hull Truck offer pre-show visits, Jess says “I think that’s good, you can ask the questions and see what it’s like.”
